Available Modules:

Fire Service Core Skills

  • Demonstrate competent use of a range of fire service pumps and associated equipment
  • Demonstrate competent use of a range of fire service ladders
  • State and apply the fundamental principles of working safely at height
  • Safely use and display a working knowledge of Fire Service lines and ancillary equipment
  • Be able to prepare foam making equipment and apply finished firefighting foam and various extinguishing agents
  • Have an understanding of current Fire Service legislation and how it relates to the role of the firefighter
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of command and control within the Fire Service
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of building construction and electricity
  • Demonstrate an understanding of dealing with HazMats

Road Traffic Collision

  • Follow a casualty centred team approach
  • Understand the phased approach to working at Road Traffic Collisions
  • Use hydraulic rescue equipment safely and effectively
  • Apply appropriate extrication techniques
  • Recognise associated hazards relevant to RTCs
  • Implement stability and glass management
  • Recognise emergency care equipment to assist the health care professional
  • Apply trauma care at road traffic related incidents
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage a variety of trauma incidents
  • Demonstrate triage and life support procedures

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course the delegates will:

  • Have been exposed to a variety of realistic scenarios on the Incident Ground
  • Have a working knowledge of the incident command system used in UKFRS
  • Have an appreciation of the lines and methods of communication at incidents
  • Have an awareness of the risk assessment model
  • Have an understanding of the safe person concept
