For the past 9 months, senior staff within the Impeller Team have worked with Educational Partners to develop a service for Schools and Academies, which provides peace of mind for School Leaders. Protecting pupils, staff, visitors and school buildings is of paramount importance, and is both a challenge and minefield of legal responsibilities.
Impeller’s Total Care Safety Package is a service created in partnership with Tyne and Wear Fire & Rescue Service, to ensure School/Academy staff have access to specialised expertise, outwith their usual providers. They bring vast experience in managing risk proactively and ensuring School Leaders competently meet their legal responsibilities.
Typically, their service includes: Building Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Safety Training, First Aid Training and provision of a competent Health & Safety person with timely on-site audits, as well as Business Continuity Planning and Leadership Development.
Kevin Hepple, Business Development Manager for Impeller stated that: ‘The response we have had to our Total Care Safety Package has been very positive from the local schools we have engaged with. They are appreciative of the help and support provided by the Impeller team, at what can be short notice’.
As a Social Enterprise, all of Impeller’s profits are put back into local community safety projects through the Impeller Foundation. Will Fatherley, CEO of Impeller confirmed: ‘Our ‘profit for good’ model is an important part of what we do. In times of falling school budgets, we appreciate the need for schools to invest wisely in Fire and Health and Safety services.’

Louise Levy, Senior Leader Business and Finance at Cardinal Hume Catholic School said “We love working with Impeller, as their team provide us with first-class advice and service for all aspects of fire safety – something which is critically important to our large school. It’s great that Impeller reinvest their profits back into North East community safety projects, whilst offering competitive services. Their monthly, fixed cost payment model is ideal for school budgeting purposes and allows us to plan effectively. ‘
Cardinal Hume Catholic School, St. Benet Biscop Catholic Academy, Seaton Burn College and Venerable Bede Church of England Academy are all working in partnership with Impeller and we can only see this expanding as others hear of the benefits firsthand.
